Outdoors with God

School Holidays activities at home

Hey Families!

Believe it or not, it’s now school holidays! This means that Precious Pebbles, Kids Church and SMYG’s are all taking a break until Term 4. Don’t worry though, because we have created some fun activities for you to do together as a family at home during the holidays! These activities are designed to get you off the screen, outside and experiencing God in fun ways!

Check out the different activities by clicking the buttons below!

Let’s Look Together
Psalm 19:1 – The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands
Matthew 6:28-30 – Look how the wild flowers grow. They don’t work hard to make their clothes. God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields…
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing

Grab a blanket and lets go and check out the clouds! Then we’ll look around the garden to see what God has to say to us. Lastly we will look to others and how we can encourage them.

A Planned Float
Proverbs 17:17 – A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity

Are you looking for an adventure and a bit of whimsey? A break from the lockdown break? Well maybe this guided walk could work. After all, isn’t half the fun of getting somewhere, the journey itself? On this trip neither you nor I know where you will end up nor how long it will take… but hopefully by the end you will have had a good time out in the sun with the family and people God has gifted you.

Rest and Overflow
Matthew 28:11 – Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest

I don’t know about you, but I find that sometimes it can be really easy to feel worried about everything – and it’s safe to say that lockdown doesn’t help. Here we have two short activities – one about resting in God, and the other about overflowing with hope when we trust in him. Hopefully as we do these exercises we will be able to trust God and feel safe in his presence. These activities help us to rest, focus on God and will also get a bit wet!

Greetings of Hope

We need your help to encourage the church by getting your family together to film a ‘Hope Video Greeting’ for PBC that will go in our Church Online Service! Its easy! Just grab your phone or camera, and turn it to film in landscape. Then:

1. Introduce yourself

Example: “We’re___, and we’re part of the 8:45/10:45/5:30 congregation”

2. Share what’s bringing you hope

Example: “Something that has brought us hope recently is… OR: Something that has been helping me lift my eyes to God recently is…”

3. Share if and how you are being a bringer of hope to others

If you’re keen to do this for us, make sure you aim for 1-1.5 minutes of footage then upload your video to an online file sharing service like OneDrive or Dropbox and then share the link with us in the comment box below. Or you can just use that comment box to let us know you have created a video and we’ll help you out with the upload.

Thanks everyone! We’re so excited to see hear how you’re going!

Thanks for joining in on these activities! It is our prayer that in doing them you have fun, grow closer together and experience God in new and exciting ways. We would love to hear how you go with them, so either use the message box below or send an email Lynn, Mireille or Ben! Similarly, if you have any questions or other creative ideas on how to spend time in God’s word together, let us know! Hope to see you all again soon!
