New Ministry Centre
Building for Tomorrow's Transformations Proposed PlanJoin Us - Pray, Give, Be InformedWhat God has been doing?
We are excited by what God has been doing in and through the lives of those at Parramatta Baptist Church. As God continues to shape our story, we are seeing more people discover the love and grace of Jesus.
Each week we are blessed to welcome new people into our community who are exploring faith and finding connection. We are committed to working with God in seeing tomorrow’s lives transformed.
The New Ministry Centre
As we continue growing towards a church of 800 people across 3 congregations, we are needing to expand our facilities. This will provide the required flexible space to disciple, train, teach, counsel and support people in the transformation that God brings.
Find out more about the purpose, plan and possibilities in the video below.
The rooms and spaces
This is an exciting opportunity for the church to provide much needed ministry space and open up new ministry possibilities and flexibility for the future.
See below for the vision that the flexible ministry spaces open up for us.

Ways to give
When we give to the new Ministry Centre, we are not just funding a new building, we are sowing into tomorrow’s lives. The Lord knows your heart and your circumstances. Whatever sacrificial gift you are able to give will make a difference – whether it be a one-off gift, regular contributions, or a bequest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will we have less carpark spaces?
No. With the removal of the demountable buildings, the number of carparks will remain the same.
Is the proposed project extravagant?
The reality is facilities are a key resource needed to provide ministry. The current Hub is made up of two demountable buildings and they are both at the end of their effective life. In replacing these facilities we are committed to providing them as effectively as possible responding to numerous objectives including size, aesthetic, maintenance, amenity, compliance, impact on neighbours, usefulness and price. We are not seeking to be extravagant in this project and the steps that will be taken now and into the future – including the ECI process about to the undertaken – will continue to seek effective stewardship of the resources God provides.
Can we replace the existing demountables with new demountables in the same location?
Whilst it is theoretically possible to replace the current demountables with new demountables of a similar size and height, these new demountables will not provide adequate space for ministry, will continue the current safety challenges when moving between buildings on the site, and would also be closer to neighbours limiting the flexibility of the demountables now and into the future. Demountable buildings are also by their nature restrictive in amenity, quality and lifespan.
Can’t we take over the childcare centre buildings and use that for ministry?
We already use the childcare centre for ministry on Sundays. With the demountables being removed, we need to create additional ministry space.
The childcare forms part of our missional presence in our neighbourhood, with Mireille sharing Bible stories with the children and building relationships with the children, staff and families. It creates a pathway for kids to come to the kids holiday program and our Friday night programs.
We are also in a lease arrangement with the childcare centre.
Can we afford to do this?
This project is a financial stretch for PBC and it will require all of us to give sacrificially. It also requires us to trust God with prayer and dependence, both for our own needs as we give sacrificially and for the church’s needs.
A different way of looking at this question is can we afford NOT to do this?
Our ministries have outgrown the space that they have and our approach of relational disciple making in small groups with children and youth is particularly challenged by having groups of 15-20 young people due to space limitations. More meeting spaces and smaller groups will enable more effective relational disciple making.
We are also committed to stewarding this site. With the zoning change the week following our DA approval, this is likely to be our last opportunity to construct a larger ministry centre on this site.
What is ECI?
ECI stands for Early Contractor Involvement. In simple terms this is where a head contractor is engaged as a consultant in partnership with PBC to help balance price, quality, construction methodology, time and a number of other key project objectives.
How long will it take to build the New Ministry Centre?
This is something we will understand more fully as we move through the ECI process. Until then we are working on the assumption the Construction phase will take around 8 months (excluding wet weather).
Are there any changes to how we are able to use the church property whilst construction is happening?
Once again, this is something we will understand more fully as we move through the ECI process. It is a requirement of the project that church ministry and the childcare centre can continue to operate on the site whilst the building is under construction. It is also a reality that we should expect some impact on the spaces available during construction, particularly outdoor spaces such as parking and the grass area. As more information emerges we will provide additional updates.
How do I have my say about what we are building?
Speak to a member of the Pastoral Team or the Taskforce if you have any questions.
